The Project Background & Objective

Grace Wellness CIC (GWCIC) is a non-profit organisation dedicated to enhancing health and well-being in Wirral, Cheshire, and Merseyside. Through evidence-based practices, GWCIC offers comprehensive health programmes. Their mission includes:

  • Equipping communities with tools for physical and mental well-being; and
  • Supporting individuals in low socio-economic areas, particularly within Wirral.

GWCIC’s mental health awareness event emphasises the link between healthy eating and mental well-being, empowering individuals with skills for effective mental health management and independent living. Thus, creating a healthier, more resilient community where individuals can lead fulfilling lives.

The key Project Challenges that We Overcome

In Wirral, a mental health awareness event is crucial due to several pressing challenges faced by the community. These challenges include stigma leading to reluctance in seeking help and support, limited availability of mental health awareness resources, social economic factors, social isolation, lack of awareness of mental health or how healthy eating can improve mental health wellbeing. Given these challenges, GWCIC mental health awareness event in Wirral becomes essential to address stigma, increase awareness, and provide resources and support to those in need, ultimately promoting a mentally healthier and more resilient community.

GraceHola Ltd was approached to help provide project management support for the design and delivery of this event.

The key tasks/challenges we underwent in providing this service are as follows:

  • Working to a tight timeline;
  • Finding a suitable event venue that is easily accessible;
  • Ensuring all event speakers work collaboratively together to deliver robust presentation and useful materials for event attendees;
  • Identifying partners to ensure project delivery within budget and on time;
  • Making sure that the event is promoted publicly via Liverpool BBC Radio and through various social media;
  • Ensuring all delegates safety on site; and
  • Ensuring that all participants have the opportunity to get involved and engaged at event.

The Project Activities & Outcomes

The actions we took to ensure that we performed to an exceptional standard are as follows:

Project Management Support:
  • We worked positively with the project team to agree on project objectives, scope, budget, timeline, expected outcomes, and evaluation criteria; and
  • We worked collaboratively with partners and stakeholders including speakers to ensure project co-production throughout the process, managing and controlling all risks and identified issues.
Event Planning & Organisation:
  • We worked to identify and book accessible event venue with parking and ensure all information are cascaded to all event attendees. We positively worked with event venue to ensure successful outcomes; and
  • We worked effectively with each partner to understand their roles and responsibilities before, during and after the event including accountability as required.
Stakeholders Engagement:
  • We identified key stakeholders and partners for the project, and we engaged them positively throughout; and
  • Four partners as listed below were engaged with positive outcomes:
    • Merseyside Audio Visuals, One Wirral CIC, GraceHola Ltd and NHS Wirral Talking Therapies

We recorded positive outcomes and project objectives were achieved.

  • Mental health awareness event successfully delivered at the Lighthouse church Heswall Wirral on 28th October 2023 on time and within budget;
  • Positive outcomes with project objectives achieved. Respondents rated their knowledge of mental health, the link with healthy eating and issues discussed AFTER the event as ‘High’ and
  • Four organisations supported the event as partners, achieving better outcomes.
