TESTIMONIAL SHOWCASE
Thank you so much, Modupe for inviting us to contribute to the LCRCA 15 Years Spatial Development Strategy. Your visual presentation and verbal explanation were most helpful! It was fantastic to watch the ladies who have never been in a focus group like this before, gain confidence and articulate their thoughts and ideas. We had fun too!

My personal story, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in March 2021. I didn’t have any symptoms, it was identified on one of my annual checks. As my father had prostate cancer 10 years previously, I made sure to be tested regularly. So, the message of the Cancer Awareness project is to encourage men to be tested and not wait for symptoms to appear, or to wait until it’s too late.
I was introduced to Modupe through my consultant Mr. Nambirajan at Wirral Hospital, having had recent surgery for prostate cancer. Modupe was instrumental in putting together and coordinating the prostate cancer awareness project. This identified a gap that was not being catered–to create a support group for Black men by Black men in Cheshire and Merseyside.
Modupe and the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance Communications Manager (PaulOgden) worked positively with me to put my story together along with others onto a social media platform tor each those who are in a similar situation or need help and reassurance.
The whole experience of working with Modupe was a positive one. She’s efficient and delivers on point, certainly an asset to any organisation she’s involved with.

Health watch Liverpool provide devaluation support when Modupe was the project lead on a project aimed at raising Black men’s awareness of prostate cancer signs, symptoms, and testing.
Modupe is a skilled networker who brought together a range of health service providers, community organisations, media outlets, and Black men with lived experience to reach the target audience. A culturally appropriate awareness-raising event reached individuals and groups who were involved in discussions, accessed blood tests, and, in some cases, became ambassadors tasked with cascading potentially life-saving information to their families, friendship groups, and communities.
Modupe’s expertise as a project manager not only helped to increase the take up of prostate cancer testing amongst Black men in Liverpool but was also recognised as an example of best practice in public health/health inequalities.
The project is now included as a good practice case study in the Cheshire & Merseyside Cancer Alliance (CMCA) Health Inequalities Library.
Modupe was easy to work with, on top of her brief, and clearly committed to addressing health inequalities faced by African and Caribbean communities, and others who experience barriers in accessing health care and information.

I am a Prostate cancer patient survivor. I received my Cancer treatment at Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Clatterbridge Cancer Centreat Wirral and Liverpool.
In 2022, I was contacted by Modupe who requested I join the Cheshire and Merseyside Prostate cancer awareness project team. I have had the great pleasure of working with Modupe from start to finish on this project as a patient representative. The project was targeted at men of African and/or Afro-Caribbean descent promoting awareness of prostate cancer and helping to reduce health Inequalities.
I am pleased and grateful to Modupe for inviting me to be part of this great cause!
Modupe is good at project management, planning, and organising events as she successfully did with the Prostate Cancer awareness event held at the Kuumba Imani Millennium Centre Liverpool on 3rd March 2022.
Modupe has been an inspiration to me in continuing to promote Prostate cancer awareness as an individual and in collaboration with other various organisations including Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance, EdinburghLive, and The Mirror.
I am now a patient ambassador for the Cheshire and Merseyside Cancer Alliance and a member of the ‘Cheshire and Merseyside Prostate Cancer support group for Black Men by Black Men’ raising awareness of prostate cancer by telling my story. Thank you Modupe!
